Trade surplus of 8 billion USD in the first 5 months of the year

In the first 5 months of the year, state budget revenue from import-export activities reached 165,696 billion VND, equal to 44.2% of the assigned estimate, up 7.4% over the same period in 2023.

Regarding import and export, also in May 2024, Vietnam's total import and export of goods reached 66.62 billion USD, an increase of 9.1% (equivalent to an increase of 5.58 billion USD) compared to the previous month, with a trade deficit of 1 billion USD.

May exports increased sharply in the fruit and vegetable group, while imports increased sharply in items such as crude oil, computers, electronic products and components, machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts.

Accumulated in the first 5 months of 2024, total import and export reached 305.53 billion USD, an increase of 16.6% (equivalent to an increase of 44.56 billion USD) over the same period in 2023.

Of which, exports reached 156.77 billion USD, up 15.2% (equivalent to an increase of 21.29 billion USD) and imports were estimated at 148.76 billion USD, up 18.2% (equivalent to an increase of 23.27 billion USD).

Thus, in the first 5 months of 2024, the whole country had a trade surplus of 8 billion USD.
