On the occasion of Vietnam Cyber Security Day, Google and the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention ( Ministry of Public Security ) announced the initial results of the propaganda campaign "Preventing online fraud - Safer with the Ministry of Public Security and Google", launched in June this year.

After just over a month of implementation, the campaign has created a positive effect by attracting nearly 200 videos from content creators, reaching more than 13 million views and nearly 500,000 interactions.

Familiar faces such as Tai Xai Tech, Spiderum, ToyStation, Khuong Dua, Color Man, Linh Barbie... have strongly spread the message of anti-fraud to millions of followers.

In addition to the media content, the campaign also released a Handbook on preventing online fraud , which comprehensively presents the situation of online fraud in Vietnam, common forms and how to avoid them. In addition, a series of 8 educational videos with the participation of experts from Google and the Ministry of Public Security helped people identify 7 common types of fraud, along with practical advice.

According to Mr. Marc Woo, General Director of Google Vietnam, this campaign is a testament to the effectiveness of a community-centered approach that combines technology, communication and education to protect users from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

On the technology front, Google continues to strengthen its security solutions. By early August, Google Play protection had prevented nearly 7 million malicious app installations on more than 1.6 million Android devices in Vietnam. About 72% of Android users also said they felt confident in their devices' ability to protect against malware.

In parallel, Google also cooperated with Vietnamese authorities to implement the " Government App Badge" initiative, helping users easily identify more than 110 official applications, avoiding falling into fake traps. This is part of the "Safer with Google" initiative - a long-term program aimed at diverse user groups such as children, the elderly, etc.

Notably, Vietnam is now the first country to cooperate with Google to introduce the “Official Government App” marking feature on Google Play. This shows Vietnam’s pioneering role in technological cooperation on digital security.

The campaign "Preventing online fraud - Staying safe with the Ministry of Public Security and Google" not only promotes public awareness, but also strengthens a safe, healthy and sustainable digital ecosystem. Google and the Ministry of Public Security are committed to continuing to expand the initiative, providing Vietnamese people with the necessary tools and knowledge to confidently participate and develop in the digital environment.
