Doctors are transplanting organs to patients.

Previously, on June 29, Ms. NVBT unfortunately had a motorbike accident and was determined to be brain dead after 3 consultations. From the humane decision of Ms. T.'s family, the precious donated internal organs have contributed to saving the lives of many people.

Ms. T's heart was successfully transplanted to a patient at Hue Central Hospital and 2 kidneys were used to transplant to Mr. D.CP and Ms. NTHL at Gia Dinh People's Hospital.

Mr. D.CP used to be a salesman, but since he was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure, he was fired by the company due to not being able to meet the time requirements for dialysis three times a week.

Ms. NTHL is a single mother, working as a pharmaceutical representative, raising her children and taking care of her elderly mother. Although she has to undergo dialysis 3 times a week, she still tries to go to work to cover all living expenses. She confided that there are days when she has to rush back to work right after finishing her dialysis session and then rush to prepare dinner and her children's homework.

Her situation was so difficult that she did not dare to hope for a miracle to happen to her. Then, one afternoon after work, she was stunned and in disbelief when she received a call from Gia Dinh People's Hospital informing her that a suitable kidney was available.

Both Mr. P. and Ms. L. expressed their deep gratitude to the organ donor and their family because from now on, they can live healthy lives.

According to Dr. Nguyen Xuan Toan, Head of the Department of Nephrology and Urology, Gia Dinh People's Hospital, after more than 10 days of surgery, both Mr. D.CP and Ms. NTHL have recovered very well, overcoming the high-risk stage after transplantation. Kidney function indicators such as serum creatinine are improving well, glomerular filtration rate has improved significantly and are entering the polyuria stage with urine output of about 6,000-7,000ml/day.

Both patients have had their catheters removed, are urinating on their own, are eating well, their surgical wounds are healing well, and they have stopped intravenous anti-rejection drugs and switched to oral maintenance regimens. With these factors, Mr. D.CP and Ms. NTHL are medically fit to be discharged in the next few days and will continue to be monitored regularly at the kidney transplant clinic.
