How are the 33 students suspected of rat poison poisoning doing?

On January 23, the Department of Health of Tuyen Quang province said that 33 students of Phu Lam Primary School suspected of rat poison poisoning are being monitored at the National Children's Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital, and their health is stable.


Previously, at around 4:10 p.m. on January 21, at Phu Lam Primary School, My Lam Ward, Tuyen Quang City, 5 students showed signs of fatigue, nausea and vomiting.

One student had a seizure. The school informed the My Lam Ward Health Station to provide first aid and take the student to Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital for examination and treatment.

Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital receives suspected cases of poisoning.

At 8:00 a.m. on January 22, the Provincial General Hospital received 28 more students who were given a pink solution in a plastic tube by their friends since the afternoon of January 21.

Upon examination, four students showed signs of fatigue, abdominal pain, and nausea. At the request of the patient’s family, the hospital proactively transferred these 28 students to Bach Mai Hospital for examination and testing for toxins.

On January 23, the Department of Health of Tuyen Quang province said that the children are being treated at the National Children's Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital, their health is stable, they are being closely monitored, and there are no serious cases.

It is known that the students picked up some bottles of pink liquid in plastic tubes next to the school gate and then shared them among themselves to drink.

Tuyen Quang Provincial Department of Health has directed the Food Safety and Hygiene Department to coordinate with the Provincial Center for Disease Control to verify and collect samples of the pink liquid solution bottles and send them to the National Institute for Food Safety Control for testing.

The Department of Health of Tuyen Quang province directed the Provincial General Hospital to continue monitoring the treatment of patients at the National Children's Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital and report daily to the Department of Health according to regulations.
