4 Central hospitals will merge and move to the province

4 hospitals under the Ministry of Health will be merged and transferred to provinces.


According to the Project on rearranging hospitals under the ministry, the Ministry of Health plans to reduce 4 hospitals to transfer them to local ministries and branches for management.

The Ministry of Health predicts that the rate of service use at central hospitals will be 5% by 2050.

Central Hospital 74 was transferred to the People's Committee of Vinh Phuc province in its original state. Central Hospital 71 and the Central Nursing and Rehabilitation Hospital were reorganized into two practice hospitals of Hanoi Medical University. Quang Nam Central General Hospital was reorganized into the 3rd facility of Hue Central General Hospital. Quang Nam Central General Hospital was reorganized into the 3rd facility of Hue Central General Hospital.

The Ministry of Health also said it is completing a project to establish a National Medical Council and a project to establish a Central Center for Disease Control, to be submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision this December.

In addition, the Ministry of Health is arranging and approving the job position project of units under the Ministry of Health, streamlining the affiliated public service units.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the Ministry of Health approved the regulations on organization and operation of the following hospitals: Bach Mai, K, Central Lung, Central Children's, Central Obstetrics, Da Nang C, Quynh Lap Central Leprosy - Dermatology; and the following centers: Central Health Communication and Education, Southwest Regional Forensic Psychiatry, Central Highlands Regional Forensic Psychiatry, Northern Mountainous Region Forensic Psychiatry.

Regarding the model of using medical services, the Ministry of Health said that currently, the proportion of using inpatient medical services at central hospitals accounts for about 9.4%. In the coming time, some provincial hospitals will be upgraded to become hospitals with regional functions, the trend of using medical services of people at central hospitals will decrease.

The Ministry of Health predicts that by 2050, the proportion of services used at central hospitals will decrease to 5%. About 50% of patients will use inpatient services at provincial hospitals, the rest will be at district hospitals and other medical facilities.
