Hanoi Social Insurance said that in the first 11 months of 2023, the industry paid unemployment insurance benefits to more than 76,000 workers. At the same time, the parties resolved and created conditions for more than 500 workers who were eligible for unemployment insurance to participate in elementary vocational training.

Compared to the same period in 2022, the number of employees receiving unemployment insurance in 2023 in Hanoi increased by more than 10,000 people (in 11 months of 2022, benefits were paid to nearly 65,000 beneficiaries).

According to Hanoi Social Insurance, the increase in the number of people receiving unemployment insurance partly shows the difficulty in resolving and maintaining jobs for workers in 2023.

In order to ensure the lives and welfare of workers, on the one hand, the functional agencies of Hanoi city coordinated to implement many solutions to stabilize employment for workers by the end of 2023; at the same time, creating many new job positions, helping the unemployed group to return to the labor market soon.

Unemployment insurance is a regime that partially compensates workers' income when they lose their jobs, supports workers in learning a trade, maintaining and finding jobs based on contributions to the unemployment insurance fund.

Currently, the monthly unemployment benefit is equal to 60% of the average monthly salary for unemployment insurance contributions of the 6 consecutive months before unemployment, of which the maximum is not more than 5 times the basic salary for employees in the State sector, and not more than 5 times the regional minimum wage for employees in the enterprise sector.

The duration of unemployment benefits is currently calculated based on the number of months of unemployment insurance contributions: For every 12 months of contributions up to 36 months, you will receive 3 months of unemployment benefits. After that, for every additional 12 months of contributions, you will receive 1 additional month of unemployment benefits, but not exceeding 12 months.
