The Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Protection of Children's Rights has coordinated with partners to implement the project "Connecting and providing support services for groups of children in special circumstances and at risk of falling into special circumstances".

T.'s story and hope from the charity class

T. is a 12-year-old boy who used to make a living on the streets by blowing fire and chewing razor blades. Instead of sitting in class like his peers, he had to wander the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City to make a living with dangerous work. With a difficult family background and too old to attend public school, T. is one of the children in special circumstances who are facing the trauma of making a living on the streets and are at risk of falling into the spiral of social evils.

She shared: "This job is very toxic and not good for your health. I don't want to go back. I just want to go to school and become a good chef in the future."

T.'s life changed when a philanthropist discovered, connected and supported her so that she could access education through a charity class. T. now attends school regularly, works hard and nurtures her dream of becoming a chef.

Help children develop comprehensively in physical, intellectual and spiritual aspects.

In order to support children like T., the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Protection of Children's Rights in collaboration with Saigon Children's Charity (Saigonchildren) implemented the project "Connecting and providing support services for groups of children in special circumstances and at risk of falling into special circumstances" with a total budget of more than 8.5 billion VND.

The conference to announce and implement the project "Connecting and providing support services for groups of children in special circumstances and at risk of falling into special circumstances" recently took place in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Pham Dinh Nghinh, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Protection of Children's Rights, emphasized: "The project not only supports food, nutrition, health insurance and education for children, but also organizes training programs to improve child protection skills for teachers and caregivers. In addition, the project also provides legal support, identification documents and psychological intervention packages so that children and their families can overcome barriers and access education."

By 2028, the project is expected to provide nutrition support and regular health insurance for 270-300 children each year; provide tuition fees, equipment and uniforms for at least 80 children in special circumstances. The project will also organize training and communication programs to raise awareness of children's rights for more than 40-50 teachers and caregivers in classes for disadvantaged children who do not have the conditions to attend regular schools, and classes for children with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh City.
