(NLDO) - Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( ACB ) donated 10 billion VND to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to contribute a small part to the city's implementation of social security programs.

On October 19, Mr. Bui Tan Tai, Deputy General Director of ACB - representing this bank - presented the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee with 10 billion VND to contribute to the city's implementation of social security programs.
Specifically, this bank sponsored 5 billion VND for sports activities, including the Ho Chi Minh City women's football team, 3 billion VND for programs to raise environmental awareness at schools and 2 billion VND to care for the disadvantaged.
At the ceremony of ACB accompanying the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in social security programs, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, assessed that ACB's financial contribution to these activities demonstrates the bank's affection and care for the city's people.
"From ACB's contributions, in the coming time, accompanying social security programs in Ho Chi Minh City can be expanded to the whole society" - Ms. Thuy said.
Associate Professor - Dr. Tran Hoang Ngan, Assistant Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, said that to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1974 - April 30, 2025), the city has implemented many social security activities, especially environmental protection, including arranging classified trash bins at schools; supporting families in difficult circumstances, athletes, etc.
According to Mr. Ngan, ACB's cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in implementing social security work will be of great significance as the whole country prepares to celebrate the Liberation Day of the South, April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025.
ACB's cooperation with relevant agencies in community support activities shows that this bank is actively fulfilling its responsibility as a business to create sustainable social values under the letter "S" (Society) in the ESG (Environment - Society - Governance) sustainable development strategy.
On the pioneering journey of ESG implementation, under the leadership of the State Bank of Vietnam , ACB not only focuses on business activities but also sets sustainable development goals, in line with the banking industry's action program according to the national strategy on green growth for the period 2021-2030.
In order to fulfill that commitment, in addition to announcing the Sustainable Finance Framework to set standards for operations in the green finance sector, ACB has proactively increased the Green/Social credit package from VND 2,000 billion to VND 4,000 billion by the end of September 2024. To date, ACB has disbursed 72.56% of this credit package.
