Egypt and Saudi Arabia support the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state

During a meeting at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo on the evening of October 15, President El-Sisi and Crown Prince Mohammed discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the situation in Gaza and Lebanon, while highlighting the seriousness of regional issues and calling for a reduction in tensions in Gaza as well as Lebanon.

The two sides stressed that the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state, in accordance with international legal resolutions, is the only way to achieve lasting stability, peace and security in the region, and also mentioned a number of other regional issues, especially Red Sea security and the situation in Sudan, Libya and Syria.

Regarding bilateral relations, the Egyptian leader affirmed the shared commitment to strengthening the historic ties between the two countries by enhancing cooperation mechanisms.

President El-Sisi and Crown Prince Mohammed signed a declaration establishing the Egypt-Saudi Arabia Supreme Coordination Council, as well as an agreement to promote and protect mutual investment between the two countries.

Previously, last September, during a meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in Riyadh, Crown Prince Mohammed announced that the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) would invest $5 billion in the North African country.

Egypt is currently an important strategic partner of Saudi Arabia, with bilateral trade reaching more than 124 billion USD in 2022-2023.
