During the development process, the factory has strived to build a safe and friendly working environment, focusing on improving working conditions, taking good care of the lives and health of workers, thereby not only improving production efficiency but also affirming the role and social responsibility of the enterprise.
Built in Thuan commune, Huong Hoa district, a key cassava growing area of Quang Tri province, Huong Hoa Cassava Starch Factory processes agricultural products on a large scale, playing an important role in creating jobs and increasing income for many local workers.
Over the years, occupational safety and health work at the factory has been implemented synchronously and systematically, with close coordination between the specialized department, the occupational safety board and related units. From the stages of building regulations, training skills to periodic inspections and handling situations, all activities are aimed at the goal of building an absolutely safe working environment, minimizing risks for workers.
According to Deputy Director, Deputy Head of Labor Safety Department of Huong Hoa Cassava Starch Factory Le Duc Vuong, from 2022 to present, the number of employees at the factory has remained stable at over 200 people, of which nearly 20% are female workers. The division of labor in production organization is reasonable and scientific .
Equipment and machinery with strict safety requirements are periodically inspected by competent functional units to ensure standard working conditions. All workers are fully equipped with personal protective equipment suitable for each job position such as hard hats, gloves, masks, boots, dust goggles, etc. and are trained in occupational safety and health knowledge every year. In particular, workplace risk assessments are conducted periodically to proactively prevent accidents and occupational diseases.
Thanks to strict implementation of safety protection and control measures, the factory has not had any serious work accidents in the past 3 years. The factory also focuses on taking care of workers' health, organizing periodic health check-ups once a year for 100% of workers. The health classification results show that most workers are of type II or higher, reflecting a stable working environment, guaranteed production conditions, and proper attention to the material and spiritual lives of workers.
Not only focusing on labor safety, the factory also effectively implements fire prevention and fighting (PCCC). On-site fire prevention and fighting plans are built specifically and closely following reality. The on-site fire prevention and fighting force is trained periodically; equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, fire water systems, etc. are regularly checked and supplemented.
In 2024, the factory was equipped with 50 more fire extinguishers at a total cost of 15 million VND, serving the work of preventing fire and explosion in hot and dry weather conditions. In the past 3 years, the unit has not had any fire and explosion incidents, demonstrating its initiative and high responsibility in ensuring the safety of people and property.
In the field of environmental protection, Huong Hoa Cassava Starch Factory always strictly complies with legal regulations. Ordinary waste is collected and treated according to the contract with the urban environmental unit of Huong Hoa district. Hazardous waste is classified and transferred according to the correct process to a qualified unit for treatment.
In particular, the factory is also creative in utilizing production by-products such as cassava pulp for animal feed; treated wastewater for reuse, biogas for fuel... contributing to reducing production costs while effectively protecting the environment.
Working environment samples such as dust, toxic gas, noise... are periodically measured and tested by the Quang Tri Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring twice a year to ensure that they do not exceed the allowable threshold, helping to detect early and promptly handle harmful factors, preventing effects on workers' health.
Along with technical measures, the factory also maintains good implementation of the 5S movement in production management. This is a model applied by many advanced enterprises to improve work efficiency and keep the workplace clean, tidy and safe. Warning signs, equipment nameplates, and production process diagrams are fully installed, helping workers easily identify safety risks and proactively prevent them.
Investment in occupational safety and health at the factory is carried out according to a specific plan. The factory spends hundreds of millions of VND each year to purchase equipment, protective materials, measure the environment, conduct safety training and improve working conditions.
Thereby, in order to fulfill the legal responsibilities and the enthusiasm and long-term commitment of the unit's leaders to the goal of sustainable development, linking production with people and the environment. Factory staff constantly innovate management thinking, raise awareness and responsibility of each employee, gradually build a culture of safety, positive labor, as a foundation for stable and sustainable development in the future.
