The new cloak, called "Phantom Skin," was developed by an anonymous scientist in Bucha to help hide the heat signatures of soldiers and equipment. The product is made of black plasticized material with an outer surface pattern similar to the tarpaulin of a camping tent. The cloak can block the emission of heat signatures from people or military equipment, making the object invisible to infrared or thermal sensors, Interesting Engineering reported on October 6.

Soldiers can effectively evade sensors on quadcopters by covering themselves with cloaks or hiding in tents made of the material. In a situation where both armies deploy drones en masse, stealth offers a huge advantage. This type of cloak can help conceal wounded soldiers, giving the vanguard more options.

The exact composition of the "Phantom Skin" is a secret, but the product contains nanotechnological compounds, including graphene, which have the properties of masking or absorbing heat signals. The inventor of the cloak did not work alone, but developed the product with the support of the Ukrainian military technology company Spets Techno Expert (STE). "The ability to conceal wounded soldiers with Phantom Skin is especially valuable," an STE spokesperson emphasized.

In September, the “Phantom Skin” was showcased at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition in London. “The testimonials from users are a true testament to the protection and life-saving benefits that Phantom Skin provides,” said an STE spokesperson.

According to inews, STE did not disclose whether they were taking orders for the "Phantom Skin" or any of the weapons systems on display at DSEI.
