Apple completely changed the buttons on iPhone 16

According to Economic Daily, Apple has placed a large order for capacitive buttons from supplier Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE). The new buttons will include the power button, volume buttons, action button, and a new camera shutter button, all of which will use capacitive technology instead of mechanical.

This means that instead of feeling the force and bounce of mechanical buttons, users will experience a vibration feedback from the Taptic Engines when pressing a button. Apple is expected to equip two Taptic Engines to create haptic feedback, helping users recognize that an action has been performed.

The switch to capacitive buttons is also part of Apple's internal plan, codenamed "Project Bongo." The company originally planned to use the technology on the iPhone 15, but due to technical issues, the plan was postponed until the iPhone 16.

Not only stopping at improving the buttons, the iPhone 16 is also expected to bring many other upgrades. The device will have a larger screen, equipped with a powerful A18 Pro chip, the Pro version will have a significant camera upgrade. The iPhone 16 will also support Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Advance connectivity, and use a graphene cooling system, promising to improve the performance and longevity of the device.

In particular, the iPhone 16 also integrates AI generative features, allowing users to interact with chatbots or create images from text right on the phone. This is one of the most anticipated features, promising to bring new and convenient experiences to users.
