Accordingly, the Cai Mep - Thi Vai channel from buoy area 0 to Cai Mep container port was dredged and upgraded to a depth of -15.5m and become the deepest channel in the country. After completion, the channel will allow ships of 160,000 to 200,000 DWT to operate safely without depending on the tide.

This is one of the important projects invested by state budget with a total investment of more than 1,414 billion VND.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the completion of the upgrade of the Cai Mep - Thi Vai route will help improve the operational efficiency of ports in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster and meet the demand for goods circulation in the key economic region of the South.
