Vietnam U23 team won 1-0 against Indonesia U23 team in the final match of the Southeast Asian U23 Championship on the evening of July 29 at Bung Karno Stadium. This result helped coach Kim Sang Sik's team win the Southeast Asian U23 Championship for the third consecutive time. This is truly a remarkable feat.

Southeast Asian press expressed their admiration for the achievements of U23 Vietnam. Ball Thai newspaper published an article: “Vietnamese youth football is the regional hegemon”. The author emphasized: “U23 Vietnam played better than U23 Indonesia in the final match of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament. In the end, coach Kim Sang Sik’s team won 1-0 against U23 Indonesia thanks to the only goal of Cong Phuong in the 37th minute.
This is the third consecutive time that U23 Vietnam has won the Southeast Asian U23 Championship. Meanwhile, U23 Thailand only finished in third place in this tournament. This championship shows the dominance of Vietnamese youth football.
Another Thai newspaper, Thairath, wrote: “Vietnam U23 is the only team ever to win the Southeast Asian U23 Championship three times in a row. That is truly a miracle. Vietnam U23 is showing its number one position in youth football in the region.”

Liputan6 (Indonesia) shared the same opinion: “With three consecutive wins of the U23 Southeast Asian Championship, Vietnamese football is dominating the youth tournament in the region. Despite having to compete under the pressure of tens of thousands of spectators at Bung Karno Stadium, U23 Vietnam was not shaken. They showed discipline, steadfastness and played steadily throughout the match.”
Vocket (Malaysia) also acknowledged the position of Vietnamese football: “Vietnamese football continues to be the king of youth tournaments when it won the Southeast Asian U23 championship for the third consecutive time. U23 Vietnam has excellently overcome the pressure of having to compete at Bung Karno Stadium to win with a score of 1-0.
U23 Indonesia tried their best to find an equalizer but they were met by a highly organized defense of U23 Vietnam. U23 Indonesia is also a strong team in the region but fate was not on their side.
After winning the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, Vietnam U23 will prepare for two important tournaments ahead: the Asian U23 qualifying round in September and the 33rd SEA Games at the end of the year.
