Italian press: "Coach Spalletti's team plays like idiots"

Italy's number one sports daily, Gazzetta dello Sport, commented: "The Italian Football Federation should no longer trust coach Luciano Spalletti. The President of the Italian Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, is also not sure to keep his position.

La Repubblica newspaper commented that Italy was "the ugliest team in recent years and the way they played was truly unwatchable". Corriere della Serra newspaper rated the Italian team after losing to Switzerland, with no player except Donnarumma getting more than 5/10 points, while coach Spalletti was given a score of 3.

Finally, La Stampa commented bitterly: "Italy was tormented at Euro 2024, typically with a comprehensive defeat against Switzerland. The Azzurri's performance was beyond continental level. Coach Spaletti did not produce any decent football, the surprising thing is that President Gravina still trusts him."
