Thai newspaper praises the rejuvenation of the Vietnamese team under coach Troussier

Thailand's leading sports daily Siam Sport wrote: "It's time for the Vietnamese team to change its image. Coach Philippe Troussier is replacing the core players from the Park Hang Seo era."

"Coach Troussier's Vietnam team defeated the Philippines 2-0. The interesting thing was not the result of the match but the change of the French coach. Mr. Troussier promoted the use of young players in large numbers," Siam Sport added.

In the match against the Philippines on November 16, even the mainstay midfielders of the Vietnamese team in the past few years such as Hoang Duc and Hung Dung were on the bench, replaced by Tuan Anh and Thai Son.

Meanwhile, Vu Van Thanh and Nguyen Tien Linh, although in the starting lineup, were taken off the field quite early and replaced by Ho Van Cuong and Nguyen Dinh Bac.

Siam Sport newspaper cleverly noticed this: "In the list of 11 players in the starting lineup of the Vietnamese team in the match against the Philippines, there were 6 players who had just turned 23, and 3 players under 23 coming off the bench. This is a huge change compared to the time of Coach Park Hang Seo. Coach Troussier still created a balanced squad."

"Of course, the players under coach Park Hang Seo are not very old, but coach Troussier is quietly building the Vietnamese team by using the U19 generation from the past and bringing them up to the national team.

The decisive goal of the Vietnamese team against the Philippines was scored by Nguyen Dinh Bac, a 19-year-old player who is 1m80 tall," are still the lines written in Siam Sport.

Previously, Coach Phan Thanh Hung (former coach of the Vietnam team at the AFF Cup 2012) commented that as long as the young players continue to show their mark and the Vietnam team plays effectively, Coach Troussier will still prove that he is right to "change the blood" of the team at this time.

The Vietnamese team will play Iraq tomorrow (November 21) at My Dinh Stadium. Iraq is a "high-dose test" for coach Philippe Troussier's team. Iraq is also temporarily leading Group F of the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, after a 5-1 win over Indonesia on November 16.
