Speaking at the press conference, journalist Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper, co-Head of the Organizing Committee of the National Football Super Cup - THACO Cup 2023/2024 said: 25 years ago, at the end of 1998, from the cooperation between the Vietnam Football Federation and Tien Phong newspaper, the National Football Super Cup was born. The first match took place at Hang Day Stadium in early 1999 and left a strong impression with more than twenty thousand spectators coming to watch. The climax match with the victory and the first Super Cup title belonged to the The Cong military team, marking an important turning point in the history of Vietnamese football.

Continuing to promote those successes, since 2005, Tien Phong newspaper and the Vietnam Football Federation have signed an Agreement to co-organize the annual Super Cup. Since 2011, Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), authorized by the Vietnam Football Federation, has continued to cooperate with Tien Phong newspaper to implement the Agreement to co-organize the National Football Super Cup.
This is a new development in the organization of the Super Cup, with a new, stable, long-term regulation. Thanks to that, the quality of the tournament is improved, with improvements in regulations and organization.
The National Football Super Cup - THACO Cup 2023/2024 takes place at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh Province, with the participation of two teams: National Champion Night Wolf 2023/2024 Nam Dinh Green Steel and National Cup Champion 2023/2024 Dong A Thanh Hoa.
This year there are some new features: this year is the first time that a fully licensed VAR system is officially used.
Vietnamese fans can also watch the match on television with 12 cameras, the highest standard currently in live match reporting, by the FPT Play team.
