On the evening of December 27, the Economic Police Department of Da Nang City Police announced that the investigation agency had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Mr. Pham Xu Ty (born in 1984, residing in Group 45, Hoa Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District) to investigate the act of "Violating regulations on food safety".

For the same act, Ms. Vo Thi Tuyet (Mr. Ty's wife; born in 1991) was prosecuted and banned from leaving her place of residence.

According to the Economic Police Department, through the work of grasping the situation, it was discovered that in the city there were many beef and pork sausage products with prices very low compared to the market price, so they proceeded to identify the violating establishments.

From December 20 to 27, the Economic Police Department coordinated with functional forces to continuously conduct surprise inspections of many establishments.

In particular, during an inspection at the PXT sausage production facility at 41 Nhon Hoa 12 (Hoa An ward, Cam Le district) owned by Mr. Pham Xu Ty, the police discovered nearly 1 ton of various types of sausages (beef sausage, pork sausage, pork skin sausage, minced sausage).

Through rapid testing and sending samples for quality inspection, the authorities determined that all of the above hams were positive for borax.

According to the police, borax is quite toxic to the body and is therefore not on the list of additives allowed for use in food processing. Borax can cause acute poisoning and lead to death.

In case of chronic poisoning, borax will affect the liver and kidneys, causing loss of appetite and physical weakness. When eating foods containing borax, the human body has difficulty eliminating this substance and it accumulates in the liver. When the accumulated amount is large enough, it will cause chronic diseases.

The Economic Police Department said it will continue to inspect and strictly handle establishments and businesses showing signs of violations in the field of food safety.
