With a spectacular victory, former President Donald Trump will become the next president of the United States. Immediately after the results were announced, TG&VN Newspaper had a quick interview with Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy, about this special election and the historic, dramatic return of Mr. Donald Trump.

The most dramatic and exciting race in the world has finally come to an end with the victory of Republican candidate Donald Trump. What is your comment on this year's race and did this result surprise you?

This election result is not too surprising, and is something many countries have considered a real possibility.

The biggest surprise was that the polls, once again, did not reflect all the factors that influenced the election outcome.

In your opinion, when Donald Trump returns to the White House for the second time, what changes and differences will there be in US policy towards hot spots compared to his previous term?

Mr. Trump will likely be advised by a team of more experienced experts who have had more time to prepare and accumulate, and have a wider network of relationships, so their perception and thinking will be more mature and strategic.

However, that is just my guess.

Do you think President Donald Trump 2.0 will continue what he pursued during his 1.0 term?

Mr. Trump is likely to continue pursuing some of the policies he initiated in his previous term, such as strengthening domestic industry, tightening immigration, and raising taxes on competitors.

In foreign affairs, he will likely increase pressure on allies and partners to share responsibilities and costs, especially in military alliances in Europe and Asia; and may be willing to make unilateral decisions.
