On December 28, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Ben Tre General Hospital . This is one of the province's key projects for the 2020-2025 period.

The project is invested by Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee. Phase 1 will build a 500-bed hospital with a total investment of over VND 1,658 billion. Of which, VND 1,331 billion is a credit loan from the Korean Government through the Export-Import Bank of Korea - Korea Eximbank, and domestic counterpart capital is VND 326,703 billion.
The total land use area of the project is 9.7 hectares, in Binh Phu commune (near Ham Luong bridge). The project will be completed in 2026.
The project consists of two main packages: the construction package and the medical equipment procurement package. The construction package is carried out by the contractor Handong Engineering and Construction Joint Stock Company for 18 months. The medical equipment procurement package is worth 395.6 billion VND and is currently being reviewed and listed.
The items in the bidding packages include the main building with a construction scale of 5 floors and auxiliary items such as: Infectious disease house, mortuary, nutrition house, laundry house, technical room, medical gas house, waste storage house, guard house, gate, fence, garage, yard system, lawn, landscape and road systems, escape routes and equipment.
According to the plan, after the project is completed, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province will assign Nguyen Dinh Chieu General Hospital ( currently Ben Tre's provincial public hospital ) to directly manage it.
