Specialist II Doctor Dang Ha Huu Phuoc, Deputy Director of Dong Nai General Hospital said: The hospital was established in 1902 with a scale of 50 beds. Up to now, the hospital has a scale of 1,450 beds, 29 clinical departments, 10 paraclinical departments, 11 functional rooms, 4 affiliated units. The total number of staff and employees of the hospital is more than 1,700 people, including 369 doctors, 668 nurses. On average, each day, the hospital receives and examines from 3 to 3,500 outpatients; treats 1,000 inpatients.

Since 2015, the hospital has been equipped with many modern devices and machines such as: DSA, MRI, CT Scan, X-ray systems... In 2025, all 3 testing departments of the hospital have achieved ISO 15189:2022 certification, which is the international standard for medical laboratories.

Some of the hospital's outstanding achievements include: performing hip replacement surgeries for patients over 100 years old; placing stents in cerebral and coronary arteries; performing red alert procedures to rescue many patients with severe multiple trauma; performing anatomical liver resection surgery. In particular, the hospital has mastered open heart surgery and endoscopic heart surgery. For many consecutive quarters from 2023 to present, the hospital has received gold, platinum, and diamond certificates in stroke treatment awarded by the World Stroke Association.

In the first 6 months of 2025, the hospital performed more than 454,700 medical examinations; bed occupancy rate reached more than 93%, the total number of actual beds was 1,230.

The hospital is urgently implementing electronic medical records, moving towards establishing specialized centers for cardiovascular, emergency, and oncology. At the same time, it will organize fixed voluntary blood donation points at the hospital. In particular, the hospital will implement a kidney and organ transplant project, the first kidney transplant is expected to be performed before September 2.

The Department of Cadre Health Care alone is currently taking care of more than 1,400 current and former cadres managed by the Provincial Party Committee. The department currently has 12 staff, including 2 doctors and 4 nurses. The difficulty of the department is the lack of medical staff.

Concluding the meeting, Director of the Department of Health Do Thi Nguyen acknowledged and highly appreciated the impressive achievements that Dong Nai General Hospital has achieved in the past time. At the same time, she requested the hospital to continue to improve its professional quality. In the immediate future, it is necessary to properly implement the roadmap for deploying a fixed blood receiving point at the hospital to provide blood reserves for the entire South. In addition, kidney transplants should be deployed to serve the people in the province, creating a mark for provincial hospitals; deploying electronic medical records to ensure safety and efficiency.
