" Former FAT president Somyot Poompanmoung sold data about the Thai national team as well as the Thai League to a company in Malaysia. This contract lasts until 2028. Madam Pang tried to buy it back but was unsuccessful ," Manager Daily 360 reported shocking information.

The article of this news site is like "adding fuel to the fire" because Mr. Somyot Poompanmoung is under great pressure from Thai public opinion. During the period when he was the leader of FAT, the Thai team had a bad result against the Malaysian team. They lost 4 out of 7 times against this opponent.

Mr. Somyot Poompanmoung was heavily criticized.

Mr. Somyot Poompanmoung was heavily criticized.

In fact, this information may be incorrect. It is common for a sports data company to buy data from any team in the world for business purposes. This activity is legal.

For example, data companies like Opta, SportBase or Wyscout all have the data that customers need for match analysis, media...

FAT may not sell the data directly to its opponents. Malaysia buys the data from the company, then analyzes it professionally and wins. But this is when General Somyot has no time to... explain.

Fans are fiercely attacking Mr. Somyot Poompanmoung for the lawsuit that FAT got into while he was in office.

The case began when Cineplex Co., Ltd. filed a lawsuit against Siamsport Syndicate Joint Stock Company, the entity holding the broadcasting rights to matches organized by FAT. Siamsport then countersued FAT and 20 related individuals, alleging copyright and contract violations.

The lawsuit was sparked by a dispute over the television rights to the Thai League. In 2001, Siam Sport reached an agreement with the FAT that they would receive 95% of the profits and bear all the financial risks. The contract was later extended to 2025 under FAT president Worawi Makudi.

By 2014, Thai football was booming thanks to the success of the national team, making the Thai League profitable. In 2016, Mr. Somyot Poompanmoung became the president of FAT and argued that the contract with Siam Sport was unfair because FAT only received 5% of the profits. Mr. Somyot then decided to cancel the 7-year contract. As a result, Siam Sport sued FAT.

Finally, the court ruled that FAT lost the lawsuit by 360 million Baht (equivalent to 272 billion VND). Madam Pang did not accept and announced that she would sue Somyot Poompanmoung and his associates.
