Biwase Can Tho puts into operation Can Tho 3 Water Plant with capacity of 50,000m3/day and night

(BDO) On June 18, Biwase Can Tho Water Joint Stock Company, a member unit of Binh Duong Water and Environment Corporation (Biwase), held an inauguration ceremony to put Can Tho 3 Water Plant into operation with a capacity of 50,000m3/day and night.

Can Tho 3 Water Plant Project is the “Saigon – Mekong Water Plant Project” which was approved for investment in 2016 by Saigon – Can Tho Water Joint Stock Company as the investor. However, during the implementation process, the project encountered many difficulties and was interrupted due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, along with subjective and objective factors such as changes in shareholders and the company’s human resources have not been fully consolidated.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, Chairman of Biwase Board of Directors, introduced the operating system of Can Tho Water Plant similar to Biwase's systems operating according to new and modern standards and technology in the field of water supply.

The extraordinary general meeting of shareholders on October 23, 2024 completed the positions of members of the Board of Directors and the Board of Supervisors. After that, Saigon - Can Tho Water Joint Stock Company changed its name to Biwase Can Tho Water Joint Stock Company. The new leadership urgently mobilized all necessary resources to restart and speed up the completion of the plant as soon as possible.

Can Tho 3 Water Plant applies modern American water treatment technologies, optimizes energy and is environmentally friendly. The pipeline system, tanks, pumping stations, and operating procedures all meet technical standards according to water supply industry regulations and the highest requirements according to the current management system that Biwase is applying.

Previously, to meet the requirements of project progress and quality, Biwase Can Tho increased its charter capital from 50 billion VND to 120 billion VND, invested in many equipments, applied modern technology...

Biwase Chairman Nguyen Van Thien introduced the standard water treatment system that Biwase is applying in the entire water supply system of the unit.

Ms. Truong Thu Dung, Chairwoman of Biwase Can Tho Board of Directors, said that Can Tho 3 Water Plant will contribute to improving water supply capacity, ensuring social security, attracting investment and developing the economy of Can Tho City.

Along with the project to increase the capacity of Can Tho 3 Water Plant, the Biwase General Meeting of Shareholders in March 2025 approved the plan to launch the project to increase the capacity of Nhi Thanh Water Plant (Long An) by ^60,000m3 /day (total capacity of ^120,000m3 /day), expected to be officially put into operation in the third quarter of 2025.
