Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Dong, Political Commissar of Xin Cai Border Post, said that the weather where the unit is stationed has dropped to -2, -3 degrees Celsius in the past few days. Besides the task of protecting sovereignty , border guards still have to maintain patrols in all weather conditions to fight against drugs, smuggling, illegal border crossings... In addition, border guards also participate in helping local people. Frost covered the road connecting Xin Cai and Thuong Phung communes (Meo Vac district). On January 24, officers and soldiers of the Chi Ma border post ( Lang Son ) coordinated with the militia and self-defense forces of Mau Son commune to patrol the border marker in freezing weather. In the border area of Cao Bang province, frost was recorded in many localities, including Bao Lac district. Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Major General Van Ngoc Que, Deputy Chief of Political Department of the Border Guard Command, said that the Command's leaders have directed units stationed at the northern border to take measures to maintain the health of soldiers during the freezing weather. In addition to strictly maintaining the task of patrolling to protect sovereignty, units must also step up mass mobilization work, helping local people protect livestock and crops.
