Training on skills in building recommendations and statements for senior leaders

On July 15-16 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Vietnam-Australia Center to organize a training course on skills in building recommendations and speeches for senior leaders.

The training course was attended by speakers and guests from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and many students from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (participating in person) and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs (participating online).

Speaking at the opening of the training course, Ms. Nguyen Dieu Ha, Acting Head of Training and Recruitment, Department of Organization and Personnel, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the first training course held in 2024 received positive feedback, which was a source of inspiration and motivation for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam-Australia Center to continue organizing the second course.

Ms. Nguyen Dieu Ha emphasized that the training course aims to improve the capacity of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in developing recommendations for speeches by senior leaders. The speeches must take into account foreign policy and relations with partners in the context of Vietnam's increasingly deep international integration.

The training course has professional experience from speakers such as Mr. Joseph Kerr, Head of Speechwriting, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (online); Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Assistant to Politburo Member, Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, National Director of Vietnam-Australia Center; representative of the Department of Foreign Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; representative of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam...

Ms. Nguyen Dieu Ha hopes that the training course will impart many important skills to trainees in drafting speeches for senior leaders, thereby contributing to spreading Vietnam's policies and guidelines to the people, friends and partners.

Speaking at the opening of the Training Course, Ms. Cathy McWilliam, Acting Counselor, Australian Embassy in Vietnam, emphasized the significance of the Training Course in Australia's efforts to support Vietnam in improving the capacity of officials in various fields.

Ms. Cathy McWilliam emphasized that in recent times, Australia and Vietnam have been sustainable and mutually trustworthy partners, with an important milestone of upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024. Vietnam is playing an increasingly important role in the region and on the international stage; supporting the peace and stability process to address many common challenges such as maritime security, sustainable development and the environment...

According to Ms. Cathy McWilliam, communication skills are very important, conveying policies vividly to the audience requires a lot of skills. The training course is a great opportunity for students to learn and exchange skills in building recommendations for senior leaders.

The training course took place in a lively atmosphere of exchange between students and speakers, with lively practice exercises, through which each student had the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge to "transform" and become more confident in the process of building speeches for senior leaders.
