After two consecutive days of playing five sets against Qatar and Indonesia, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team showed signs of fatigue. They started off shakily and let Chinese Taipei lead 6-3 in the first set.
Coach Tran Dinh Tien was forced to call for an early consultation. Thanks to that, the Vietnamese athletes played more calmly and focused to tie the score at 6-6. The two teams fought for each point and the men's volleyball team won 25-21 in this set.
In set 2, the two teams continued to create a tense match. But with many key players such as Quan Trong Nghia, Quoc Duy, and Van Duy losing strength, coach Tran Dinh Tien was forced to make changes.
Substitutes like Xuan Truong, Quoc Du, and Cong Duc generally performed well. However, the team on the field was not strong enough to break through like in set 1. Therefore, despite having the opportunity to take the lead, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team still could not create a turning point. Chinese Taipei won 25-22 in this set.
With high spirits, the team won 25-19 in set 3 with relative ease. In set 4, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team woke up and chased strongly. They stuck close to their opponents with the determination to take the match to set 5.
But mistakes at the decisive moment caused a lot of difficulties. Chinese Taipei won the next set 25-22, thereby ending the match with a score of 3-1 and winning the 7th place overall at the 2025 AVC Nations Cup.
The Vietnamese men's volleyball team finished in 8th place. They also left the tournament with only 1 win on the opening day against weak opponent New Zealand. The rest, coach Tran Dinh Tien's team lost to South Korea, Qatar, Indonesia and then Chinese Taipei.
