Ms. Hung On, owner of a fruit shop on Lac Long Quan Street (Tay Ho, Hanoi) said that this year, she imported several hundred Ky Da pomelos. However, as soon as she opened for sale, the pomelos were almost sold out.

According to the shop owner, there is only one crop of Ky Da grapefruit per year. From the 8th lunar month, the grapefruit is green, and by October it starts to ripen and turns a beautiful golden yellow.

The weight and size of the grapefruit are 3-4 times larger than the normal grapefruit. This type of grapefruit has a bright yellow, round skin, and a fragrant aroma. It is popular with customers looking to display on the altar. However, this fruit is not delicious to eat.

Ms. On said that the price of each grapefruit ranges from 500,000 VND to 1 million VND, depending on the size and shape. "The bigger and heavier the grapefruit, the higher the price, for example, a grapefruit weighing about 5kg costs about 1 million VND, a grapefruit weighing about 2-3kg costs about 500,000 VND to 700,000 VND," Ms. On shared.

On average, Ms. On's shop sells 15-20 giant grapefruits every day, sometimes up to more than 50. Many customers from far away provinces such as Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City also order and have them delivered to celebrate Tet. At this point, most of the large grapefruits weighing 9-10kg have been sold out, leaving only the 5-8kg variety. In the next few days, Ms. On will bring in a few hundred more grapefruits to sell until Tet.
