According to initial records, the landslide was 15m wide and 55m long, completely collapsing the anti-erosion embankment and part of the temple yard. The landslide area is close to the main hall foundation, potentially affecting the structure of the building. Estimated damage is more than 750 million VND.
The initial cause was determined to be due to the impact of heavy rain over the past few days from the circulation of storm No. 1, combined with the terrain of the river junction with strong currents, causing landslides along the river.
Currently, the area shows signs of continued expansion of cracks, and the risk of landslides remains high. Chairman of Thanh Tung Commune People's Committee, Mr. Le Quoc Bay, said that the local government has mobilized forces to support the relic management board in removing the paving bricks inside the yard to reduce the load and limit damage if landslides continue.
It is known that Thuy Long Temple is a local historical and cultural relic, which has just been restored, embellished and put into use since March 2024, having been completed for more than 3 months.
