With the desire to honor impressive press moments as well as create a separate playground for photojournalists to demonstrate their professional skills, encourage innovation, creativity, and new perspectives on press photography, the Vietnam Journalists Association assigned the Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper to organize the "Press Moments" photo award for the first time, within the framework of the 2019 Press Gala.
Since then, the annual "Press Moments" Photo Award has become a highly anticipated award for photojournalists nationwide.
To create the success of the "Press Moments 2022" Photo Award, the Organizing Committee hopes to receive enthusiastic response from press agencies, selecting the authors of the most impressive press photos of 2022 to participate in the Award.
The principles, purposes and criteria of the "Press Moments 2022" Photo Award are to honor impressive press photo works that reflect the reality of life truthfully, diversely, vividly and creatively; to discover and honor impressive and profound perspectives; photos that have the power to evoke emotions and thoughts; to positively inspire the community and the development of society reflected in the press for a year; to create a playground for photojournalists, to encourage innovations and creativity in press photos; to contribute to building and improving the quality of Vietnamese press photos.
Participants in the “Press Moments 2022” Photo Contest are journalists and reporters from press agencies across Vietnam (including journalists and reporters from Vietnamese press agencies working abroad, and collaborators with newspapers). (Members of the Organizing Committee and the Jury do not participate in the Contest).
The “Press Moments 2022” photo award includes 3 categories: Current events, social life and sports . The jury will select 50 outstanding works from which to select the major awards according to the award categories.
The award structure includes 1 Special Prize of Press Moments 2022, worth 50 million VND in cash; 1 Gold Prize for each category worth 30 million VND in cash; 1 Silver Prize for each category worth 20 million VND in cash; 1 Bronze Prize for each category worth 15 million VND in cash and the top 50 of Press Moments 2022 (the remaining 40 authors who do not win the main awards will receive a prize of 2 million VND in cash). The total prize value is up to 325 million VND in cash.
The Organizing Committee will receive entries from June 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023 via email: khoankhacbaochi.nbcl@gmail.com.
The “Press Moments 2022” photo award will be presented at the end of 2023 within the framework of the 2023 Press Gala program. The award ceremony will be broadcast live on domestic television channels.
