Drink enough water

"Dehydration affects your ability to detoxify through sweat, urine, and breath," Tamburello explains.

You can increase your fluid intake by always carrying a water bottle with you, eating lots of fresh fruit, and drinking unsweetened mineral water.

Improve sleep quality

Getting enough sleep helps your body recharge and eliminate toxins. When you don't get enough sleep for a long time, your body will function less efficiently and reduce its ability to naturally eliminate toxins.

According to Ms. Tamburello, foods rich in antioxidants protect the body's cells from stressors, help maintain the functioning of body parts, and support the natural detoxification system.

Foods rich in antioxidants include berries, bell peppers, citrus fruits, broccoli, beans and green tea.

Limit alcohol

When you consume alcohol, your liver has to work hard to remove ethanol. If you drink alcohol regularly, this internal organ has to work too hard and can be damaged.

Add fermented foods

According to Tamburello, a healthy gut and digestive system can support the body's natural detoxification process.

Some fermented foods such as kimchi and yogurt contain probiotics, which support intestinal health.

Supplement sulfur-rich foods

"Sulfur-rich foods like onions, garlic... will help remove some heavy metals and increase antioxidant activity," said Ms. Tamburello.

Additionally, sulfur-rich foods help enhance the effectiveness of the antioxidant glutathione, which supports the body's natural detoxification process.
