Coach Jorge Jesus - who recently took over at Al Nassr and previously coached Fernandes at Sporting - personally pushed for the deal. With the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr believed they had the ability to lure the 30-year-old star to the Middle East. However, Fernandes refused.
This is not the first time Fernandes has been targeted by Middle Eastern giants. Previously, he rejected a super-huge offer from Al-Hilal, with a salary of up to 200 million pounds over 3 seasons.
