Beware of malicious information about human resources on the internet

According to Hanoi City Police, recently on a number of social networking platforms and unverified news sites, there has been a lot of distorted and fabricated content about the background, work history, assets, and private lives of officials who are being planned and nominated. Notably, fake information is often partially interwoven with the truth, using sensational language to create a viral effect, thereby disrupting the information space and causing political instability.

Hanoi City Police recommends that people need to raise awareness of the dangerous nature and sophisticated tricks of hostile forces. Authorities need to strengthen their capacity to monitor, detect and promptly handle sources of bad and toxic information; proactively provide official, public and transparent information about the personnel preparation process so that people can understand correctly, fully and have confidence.

“Each cadre and party member, especially those in the planning, need to maintain moral qualities, a clean lifestyle, be exemplary in words and actions, and proactively publicize and be transparent with relevant information when necessary to be “immune” to fabricated and slanderous information,” the Hanoi City Police bulletin stated.

The Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Hanoi City Police) recommends that people when using social networks must strictly comply with the provisions of the law. According to Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government , the act of spreading false information can be fined 5-10 million VND for individuals and 10-20 million VND for organizations. Violating websites and social networks can be fined 20-70 million VND depending on the severity of the violation. More serious violations can be prosecuted.
