According to Khaosod English, Bangkok Police and Immigration Police in Thailand are agreeing on three main lines of investigation in the hotel massacre, related to the hotel's unusual statement about the "seventh person".

Previously, 6 people including 4 Vietnamese and 2 Vietnamese-Americans were found dead in a hotel room in Bangkok, suspected of being poisoned with cyanide.
The hotel said that this group of guests initially booked 5 rooms for 7 people, but only 5 people showed up to check in.
When the massacre was discovered, the number of bodies at the scene was 6.
Therefore, the police focused on three lines of investigation: Verifying whether the 7th person actually entered Thailand; collecting detailed information about the 6 victims; if the "7th person" does not exist, starting an investigation into the motive.
"We are looking for the seventh person because the numbers do not match the check-in records. If they were traveling together, there would be information about the itinerary, seat number and airline details," said Lieutenant General Thiti Saengsawang, chief of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Department.
Police have also asked the Vietnamese embassy to check the victims' occupations and their purpose of coming to Thailand. Police are also questioning food service staff to see if they noticed anything unusual.
At the scene, 6 people, including 3 men and 3 women, died in the living room and bedroom of one of the rented rooms.
Five of them checked in in two groups on July 13 and 14, respectively, and were scheduled to check out of four rooms at noon on July 15. But none of the rooms were checked out and no payment was made to the hotel.
There was a dining table in the living room where four of the six bodies were found. The food was intact, but six glasses of mixed drinks had been consumed, all with residue.
In the bathroom there is a box of tea, a bottle of electrolyte water and an opened bottle of water.
All victims showed no signs of struggle or attack. Initial suspicions revolved around the hypothesis of cyanide poisoning.
They were confirmed dead at around 1:35 p.m. on July 15.
According to police, the victims will be examined at Chulalongkorn Hospital of the Thai Red Cross Society.
