To qualify for the 2023 Women's World Cup, the Jamaican team had to raise money themselves. However, they made a splash when they eliminated Brazil to reach the round of 16.

Few people know that, before the tournament, the Jamaican female players had to scrape together every penny to have funds to attend the 2023 Women's World Cup.

In June, several female players tweeted that they had not been paid. The Jamaican Football Federation has also not provided any support for the women's team to compete in the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

Faced with that situation, the mother of player Havana Solaun came up with the idea of raising money online called Go Fund Me so that her daughter and her teammates could have money to attend the World Cup.

Leaving behind those mountains of difficulties, Jamaica created a real earthquake. They won a ticket to the World Cup group stage. In which, Jamaica resiliently resisted and held two very strong teams, France and Brazil, to a 0-0 draw.

Anyone facing hardship in life can take inspiration from Jamaica. Sometimes, only when put in the most difficult of situations can people develop a strangely strong resistance.

Goalkeeper Becky Spencer confided: "I feel very emotional. We have gone through so many difficulties off the field. No one believes in us... To survive, we can only believe in ourselves."

On the journey of the Jamaican women’s football team creating a miracle, it is impossible not to mention the golden hearts of the benefactors. The Go Fund Me fund raised 70,000 USD before the tournament, enough to cover the travel expenses and organize a friendly match with Morocco before the World Cup. Among the contributors, we can mention the family of Reggae artists, singer Bob Marley…

WLRN has called Jamaica's journey like the story of a 'Cinderella' who diligently does her job, with a deep faith in miracles.

After qualifying from the group stage of the 2023 Women's World Cup, each member of Jamaica was awarded $60,000. That is almost an unimaginable amount of money for many members of the women's team in this country.

The 2023 Women's World Cup is considered the most attractive ever. The tournament is attractive because of the magical story like Jamaica. "Giants" like Brazil, Germany, Italy stopped early but that does not mean the tournament is less attractive. Jamaica, South Africa or Morocco are ready to continue writing fairy tales in Australia and New Zealand.
