Some recent sources revealed that coach Troussier really wants to call up three overseas Vietnamese players, Filip Nguyen, Jason Quang Vinh and Alexander Dang, to the Vietnam national team to fulfill his ambition of winning a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.

However, the three names mentioned above still cannot join the Vietnamese team because they do not have nationality.
Previously, when he was still leading the "Golden Star Warriors", Coach Park Hang-seo also wanted to bring these stars back to the country many times.
A typical example of this is the case of striker Alexander Dang, who once made coach Park Hang-seo travel more than 9,000 km to Norway to watch him play.
During the time of Coach Troussier, this military leader wanted to make good use of players of Vietnamese origin who were playing football abroad.
“The list the scout sent me had about 20 good players of Vietnamese origin. They reside in many places such as Korea, Japan, Bulgaria, Russia, the Czech Republic or France.
Players were born in Europe and trained in the best football backgrounds, so they will certainly quickly help the Vietnamese team become stronger," coach Troussier said at a press conference discussing the June 2023 training session.
Most recently, the "White Witch" called up midfielder Nguyen Duc An Khanh (Andrej Nguyen) from Sigma Olomouc Club in the Czech Republic to the Vietnam U23 team.
“I hope this is a case in point for a more flexible policy for overseas Vietnamese players. Hopefully in the future there will be more similar individuals added to the team,” said the French coach.
