Cambodia's new government prioritizes economic development

On the morning of August 22, the members of the 7th Cambodian National Assembly voted to approve the composition of the leadership of the National Assembly and the Royal Government for the new term.

During the working session on the morning of August 22, chaired by MP Samdech Heng Samrin, the first session of the 7th National Assembly of Cambodia voted for the list of leaders of the National Assembly and the Royal Government of Cambodia for the 7th term. MPs voted by a show of hands with 123 votes in favor. Accordingly, Ms. Khuon Sudary, Second Vice President of the 6th National Assembly, was elected President of the 7th National Assembly and became the first female President of the National Assembly of Cambodia.

With the method of giving a one-time vote of confidence on the proposed personnel plan, the composition of the cabinet of the Royal Government of Cambodia for the 7th term was approved by the country's legislature, with Dr. Hun Manet as Prime Minister, along with 10 Deputy Prime Ministers, 18 senior ministers and ministers in charge of ministries, sectors and fields of the country.

On the afternoon of August 22, the new government cabinet members were sworn in before King Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace.

In his inauguration speech, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet pledged to implement the policies of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and ensure peace, economic growth, better infrastructure and higher wages for civil servants and garment workers. Hun Manet praised the older generation of politicians who steered Cambodia from years of brutal civil war to an era of peace, development and a better life for its people.
