The Vietnamese women's volleyball team still retains the core of its pillars, including Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Nguyen Khanh Dang. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet also added spiker Nguyen Thi Phuong to strengthen the attack. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team aims to win the SEA V.League championship at home.
Bich Tuyen's performance will be the key to victory for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team against Thailand, in the second round of the SEA V-League this time.
In the match against Thailand in the first leg, Bich Tuyen was the athlete who scored the most points for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, with 33 points, more than Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (20) and Bich Thuy (11) combined.
Returning to Ninh Binh , where the 2000-born star played for many years, the feeling of competition, space and atmosphere here can help Bich Tuyen play at her best.

Previously, in the first leg in Nakhon Ratchasima (Thailand), the Vietnamese team took the lead twice against the home team, but the Thai team turned the tables. That defeat was the fifth consecutive time that coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team had to accept a silver medal in a SEA V.League leg since 2023.
The 2-3 loss in Ratchasima was also the first time in history that the Vietnamese women's team won 2 sets against the Thais on their opponent's field. Previously, in the second round of SEA V.League 2024, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students also did this but at home at Vinh Phuc Stadium. With the above results, it shows that the Vietnamese women's team has made a lot of progress and gradually narrowed the gap in confrontations with the Thais.
In recent confrontations with Thailand, the players' mentality has also improved a lot, despite having to compete under the terrible pressure of fans in the stands and the strength of the opponent on the field.
In fact, the Thai women's volleyball team is no longer superior to the Vietnamese girls like before. The Thai team is only slightly better in terms of stability, uniformity, and fighting spirit, especially mentality.
It must also be seen that the Thai women's team's fighting spirit is very good. In the first leg of the competition, the Vietnamese women's team continued to reveal weaknesses in the first step. The opponent served very well, knew how to exploit those weaknesses and limited the attacking power of the Vietnamese women's team. The Thai defense not only locked down the "detonator" Thanh Thuy, but also organized very careful marking against Bich Tuyen's attacks.
The defeat in the “championship” match in the first stage has left the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team unable to change the outcome of their confrontation with the Thai women’s team. Returning to Ninh Binh in this second stage, the “Golden Girls” of Vietnamese volleyball are determined to win to change their history of losing to the Thais.
Thailand also showed their ambition to defend their title when they brought their strongest squad to Vietnam with the return of No. 1 hitter Chatchu-on. In the first round, the 25-year-old hitter, who used to play in Türkiye and Japan, did not participate because he had not fully recovered from his injury.
Fans are looking forward to the comeback efforts of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team in the second leg. With the home field advantage and the determination of the female players, it is expected that Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen and their teammates will rewrite the history of Vietnamese women's volleyball. This is also an opportunity for Vietnamese women's volleyball to "break the curse" of failure for the past 30 years against their arch-rival Thailand.
Stage 2 of the SEA V.League volleyball tournament with the participation of 4 teams: Thailand (reigning champion), Vietnam women's volleyball team (runner-up), Philippines team and Indonesia team.
As planned, the second leg will take place from August 8 to 10 at Ninh Binh Provincial Gymnasium. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team will face the Philippines (August 8), Indonesia (August 9) and Thailand (August 10).
List of 14 official athletes competing in stage 2 of SEA V.League 2025:
Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Tran Thi Phuong (main attacker); Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh (opposite setter); Nguyen Thi Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Pham Thi Hien (middle attacker); Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Vo Thi Kim Thoa (setter); Nguyen Khanh Dang, Luu Thi Ly Ly (Libero).
The Vietnamese women's team has made remarkable progress recently, continuously setting historical milestones in international tournaments, including 3 AVC Nations Cup championships (2023, 2024, 2025) or the bronze medal at the FIVB Challenge Cup 2024. The next goal of Vietnamese women's volleyball is to conquer regional tournaments, including the 33rd SEA Games.
