The No. 2 player of the South African team, Philip Henning, is currently ranked 748th in the world , while the No. 2 player of the Vietnamese team, Trinh Linh Giang, is not currently on the world rankings.

I myself do not put too much emphasis on the result, when the coaching staff assigns me to compete in a match, I try to win that match. The whole team is also determined to compete with all their might for the country's flag to stay in Group II of the Davis Cup," Ly Hoang Nam shared.
Coach Truong Quoc Bao also confided that in tennis, rankings sometimes do not fully reflect the abilities of the players. The Vietnamese tennis team relies on the efforts of each player to make a difference against the South African team.

The 2024 Davis Cup Group II Play-offs will be played in a 5-3 format. On the first day (January 2), there will be 2 singles matches. On the second day, there will be doubles matches. If the winner is not determined, there will be 2 more singles matches. Ly Hoang Nam is the main force of the Vietnamese tennis team in both singles and doubles.
