Recently, a video clip was circulated on social media recording the scene of employees of a coffee shop in Mui Ne ( Binh Thuan ) throwing used plastic cups into the sea, causing public outrage and calls for a boycott of this place.

According to the video , a male employee, after confirming that the drinks on the table were no longer used by the guests, threw the glasses of water straight onto the beach in front of him. Around him, there were some guests sitting and chatting, drinking coffee.

The person who posted the video said that the video was filmed on the evening of October 13, at a newly opened coffee shop in Mui Ne (Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province). The shop has an open space design with an outdoor coffee area and a view of the sea.

After the video went viral on social media, many people expressed outrage at the employee's actions.

“I cannot understand why the staff member would so casually throw a plastic cup into the sea, not to mention that there were many other people watching,” commented account T.D.

“Unacceptable action, very poor awareness. If this was not the first time this employee did this, I really wouldn't dare to think about the consequences later,” commented HP.

"Although it is not clear what purpose that person intentionally did this for, it is clear that this has a serious impact on the environment and needs to be strongly condemned," KL said indignantly.

Talking to VietNamNet reporter, Ms. NTTT (owner) admitted to being shocked and sad after the unfortunate incident happened at the coffee shop she had just opened not long ago.

Ms. T. said that the person appearing in the video is a seasonal employee at the restaurant, who only worked on Saturday and Sunday.

“On weekends, the number of customers coming to the coffee shop suddenly increases, so we have to recruit a temporary employee. He lives nearby and is just helping clean the shop, not an official employee,” she said.

According to the shop owner, after receiving the information, she extracted the camera footage during the time the seasonal employee worked there and did not notice anything unusual in the shop's service or drinks.

"During the day, she still cleans up customers' drinks normally, I don't understand why she does it at night," said Ms. T.

She said she had a direct conversation with the employee who appeared in the video and this person said that such an action was "instigated by someone". This was also mentioned by the male employee in a conversation on Zalo with friends.

After the incident, all the cafe staff collected and cleaned up the trash in the beach area in front of the cafe. However, the cafe has closed and Ms. T. confirmed that it will not reopen.

“Before opening the restaurant here, we invested money to clean up the trash and place some trash bins around for the whole neighborhood to use because this area is near the local seafood market, the amount of waste dumped every day is quite large.

We always promote environmental protection, but now we are accused of littering. I am really sad and regretful after the above incident and have agreed to close the coffee shop here," Ms. T. shared.
