"There are a lot of people asking about the 25th Amendment, invoking the 25th Amendment right now because this is an alarming situation. Our opponents see the weakness in this White House just like all of us. I don't feel good saying that. I think this is a very dangerous situation," said US House Speaker Mike Johnson, according to The Hill newspaper.

"I'm going to ask members of my cabinet to examine their feelings," Johnson continued, referring to reports that Democrats were "panic-stricken" after President Biden's debate with former President Donald Trump on the evening of June 27. "I would be panicking too if I were a Democrat today... I think they know they have a serious problem," Johnson stressed.

During the debate with Mr. Trump on the evening of July 27, Mr. Biden appeared hesitant and had difficulty answering some questions. This alarmed Democrats and even called for Mr. Biden to withdraw from the US presidential election in November, according to The Hill .

What information is false in the Biden - Trump debate?

The 25th Amendment to the US Constitution, which governs presidential succession, provides that the vice president and a majority of the government can vote to declare the president "incapable of discharging the powers and duties of his office" and assign the vice president the duties of the acting president.

Never before have the vice president and the US Cabinet declared a president incapable of holding office, according to The Hill .

Mr. Johnson made the above statement after US Representative Chip Roy (Republican) said on June 27 that he would submit a resolution asking US Vice President Kamala Harris to convene the Cabinet and declare Mr. Biden unable to perform his presidential duties. However, Mr. Johnson said: "Unfortunately, it is not the House of Representatives but the Cabinet that makes that decision according to the Constitution."

Meanwhile, Vice President Harris defended President Biden after the debate on June 27, indicating that she would not support such a move, although she admitted that Mr. Biden had a "slow start," according to The Hill .
