RIA news agency on December 27 quoted Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov as saying that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Russia in 2025.

“As for specific bilateral events, I can say that appropriate plans are being actively drawn up,” Ambassador Igor Morgulov told RIA.

"It is no secret that, in terms of priorities, the Chinese president is expected to visit Russia next year," the Russian diplomat said.

China's Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on the report.

The Chinese leader then attended the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week in Peru (November 12-16). In Peru, Xi and Peruvian President Dina Boluarte attended the online inauguration ceremony of the Chancay deep-water port on November 14. China has invested about 1.3 billion USD in the first phase of this port project.

After leaving Peru, Mr. Tap attended the G20 summit in Brazil (from November 18-19) and visited Morocco from November 21-22.
