Responding to a press conference on April 29, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian confirmed that General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping will visit three European countries: France, Serbia and Hungary from May 5-10.
Mr. Lam Kiem said that the bilateral relationship with France maintained strong growth momentum, emphasizing that both countries maintained strategic communication and substantive cooperation.
"China wishes to work with France to further enhance political mutual trust, solidarity and cooperation," a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed at a press conference.
In addition, the Chinese Foreign Ministry representative announced that President Xi Jinping will hold talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to exchange views on bilateral relations and discuss upgrading diplomatic ties. President Xi will also hold talks and meet with Hungarian leaders to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues.
Regarding US-China relations, also at the press conference on the same day, Mr. Lam Kiem said, "non-interference in internal affairs is one of the basic principles of Chinese diplomacy. The US presidential election is an internal matter of the US, China will not interfere in any form and has never been interested in it."
According to Mr. Lam Kiem, Beijing firmly opposes the use of any rhetoric related to China to undermine its interests for election purposes. Mr. Lam Kiem also called on the US to stop smearing China and make more efforts to contribute to the stability of bilateral relations as well as the interests of the people of the two countries.
