Two new regulations were put forward by the tourism groups, including: Tourists must bring cash of 700 USD or 15 million VND or other equivalent foreign currencies to prove that they are traveling ; multiple entries are limited in one year. At the same time, the information also advises tourists to Thailand to dress politely to avoid misunderstanding that they are traveling for other purposes, not tourism .

Information also said that many groups of tourists were detained at the airport when entering Thailand to check the amount of money they were carrying.

The information caused a stir in the Vietnamese tour guide and tourism community. However, according to the Immigration Law of this country, the amount of cash brought when entering Thailand has been in place for a long time. Specifically, foreigners with tourist visas or non-immigrant visas must prove that they have enough financial resources equivalent to at least 20,000 baht per person (about 700 USD) or 40,000 baht per family (about 1,400 USD) upon entry.

To facilitate foreign tourists, Thai immigration officers conduct random checks on foreign tourists upon arrival at all ports of entry. If a tourist cannot prove sufficient funds, officers will consider whether to allow entry on a case-by-case basis. Random checks will not take place after a tourist has been granted entry and has passed through immigration checkpoints.

Regarding information about restricting multiple entries into Thailand, speaking with Thanh Nien , the leader of the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City (TAT) said: Currently, Thailand has not made any new announcements regarding the restriction of the number of entries for tourists. "Some visitors entering Thailand and being checked or denied entry may be because their name matches Thailand's suspect list in the system or the visitor has some suspicious behavior. Regarding this issue, customs will follow the correct procedures as all customs in the world," said a TAT representative.

After the pandemic, Vietnamese tourists have always been among the top 10 markets for Thai tourists, including Malaysia, China, India, Russia, South Korea, Vietnam, the US, the UK, Laos, and Hong Kong. According to TAT, in the first half of 2023, Vietnamese tourists to Thailand will reach about 500,000.

In 2019, the total number of Vietnamese tourists to Thailand was 1 million and it is forecasted that this year, Vietnamese tourists traveling to Thailand will recover 100% compared to before the pandemic.
