On November 28, the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Ngai province held a launching ceremony to mobilize support for the program "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Quang Ngai Province, said that from 2021 to present, Quang Ngai province has built and repaired houses for more than 9,000 poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties with a total cost of nearly 400 billion VND. Of which, the State budget spent about 160 billion VND, and mobilized other resources in society about 240 billion VND.

“I hope that through the launching ceremony to support the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province held today, we will be able to mobilize many contributions to achieve the province's goal of "completely eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" for households in the province by 2025," said Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van.

According to Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van: “With the high determination of the entire political system in the province, the great efforts and drastic actions of the business community and all classes of people, I believe that the program of “eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses” in the province with its profound and noble humanitarian meaning will receive the positive response and support of organizations, individuals, the whole society, businesses and the whole people with the spirit of mutual love and affection, “the whole leaves cover the torn leaves”, the whole people, comprehensively, joining hands and wholeheartedly for the poor”.

According to statistics from the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, the province currently has about 9,797 households with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs, poor households, near-poor households, households negatively affected by natural disasters and climate change living in temporary houses, dilapidated houses, unsafe houses or no houses. However, the resources of the State budget and the provincial budget to support implementation are still limited.

According to Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province is so that 100% of people in the province can live in safe and durable houses to work, produce and stabilize their lives.

According to the plan of the Provincial Steering Committee on the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, it is expected that by 2025, through national target programs, from the state budget, and from mobilizing social resources, the province will support housing for about 9,797 poor and near-poor households, people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs.

At the launching ceremony, the program called for and mobilized more than 242 billion VND from units, businesses and localities.
