According to Kyodo news agency, the above information was confirmed by a Japanese labor union on December 22, adding that the number of Vietnamese workers had been owed wages for at least one month.

The company’s president told Kyodo News in early December that they were unable to pay salaries due to a lack of operating funds. He expressed his hope that the Japanese government would help pay the salaries of 150 Vietnamese trainees after the company ceased operations.

Mr. Phan Tien Hoang, Head of the Labor Management Department at the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo, expressed concern about this situation and said that many Vietnamese citizens in Japan are in difficult circumstances because they do not receive their salaries.

According to data provided by Nippon.com, as of October 2023, Japan had more than 2 million foreign workers. Of these, Vietnamese workers were the most numerous, with about 520,000 people.

The most popular visa for foreign workers in Japan is the "technical intern trainee" - an internship program established to transfer skills and knowledge to developing countries.

It is known that there are currently more than 200,000 Vietnamese interns practicing in Japan, accounting for more than 50% of the total number of foreign interns in this country.
