Thanh Nien reporters recorded that at Rach Mieu bridge area, traffic police officers, soldiers, and youth union members distributed free mineral water and cold towels to support people returning home for Tet.

According to the Traffic Police Department of Ben Tre Province Police, this relay activity has been carried out for many years.

The leader of the Traffic Police Department of Ben Tre Province Police said that the unit always ensures that the number of officers on duty 24/7 during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin to direct and regulate traffic to minimize congestion in the Rach Mieu bridge area.

During holidays, traveling around Rach Mieu bridge area is difficult.

At the same time, the Traffic Police Department of Tien Giang Province coordinated with union members and youth at the facility to distribute mineral water and cold towels at many locations on National Highway 1 through this province.

From January 30 (20th of Lunar New Year Giap Thin) until now, the number of vehicles pouring into Rach Mieu bridge area is very high, nearly 5 times higher than the design capacity (6,000 vehicles/day and night passing the bridge).

Traffic police forces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces coordinated to regulate and divide traffic, so the time for vehicles to wait to cross Rach Mieu Bridge was only about 30 minutes at most. During Tet holidays in previous years, vehicles sometimes took 4-5 hours to cross Rach Mieu Bridge.
