The victim was Mr. PTA (35 years old), a worker at Deep C2A industrial park, Cat Hai - Dinh Vu economic zone (Hai Phong), who was taken to the emergency room by the company.
Through examination, doctors diagnosed that the patient had a 3cm long screw piercing and embedded in the 7th cervical vertebra.
The surgery was performed in collaboration with doctors from the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and the Department of Cranio-Spinal Surgery. The doctors successfully removed the foreign object, repaired the damaged artery and jugular vein, and preserved the nerves intact.
Dr. Le Minh Son, Head of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital, Hai Phong , said that this was a complicated surgery, requiring the team to be very careful. Because in addition to removing foreign objects and treating vascular injuries, the team also had to pay attention to nerve damage or avoid nerve damage.
After 11 days of treatment, Mr. A. recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
