Rescue workers confirmed that the singer had died, and his body was found in the hotel's courtyard. A representative of MTV Latin America wrote on social media: "We are deeply saddened and pray for his family and loved ones to stay strong and safe."

Local news channel Todo Noticias TV interviewed Hernan Palazzo, a man who works near the hotel in the Palermo neighborhood. He said: "The neighborhood was very chaotic... There were a lot of police and some fans. It was sad."
Liam Payne was seen at former One Direction member Niall Horan's music event on October 2. He also recently celebrated his 31st birthday in England.
A few days before his death, the 9X generation singer posted on social network Snapchat pictures of his trip to Argentina, talking about horse riding and wanting to return home to see his dog.

Liam Payne rose to global fame as a member of the pop band One Direction, alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson.
The band began their career after finishing third on the UK version of the X Factor in 2010. Six years later, the group disbanded as the members pursued individual careers.
Liam Payne has been open about his battle with addiction and has spent time in rehab facilities.
The former One Direction member has a son, born in 2017, with singer Cheryl Cole (formerly of Girls Aloud). In a video posted last year, Liam expressed his happiness, pride and responsibility for his son.
"He's amazing. He's growing up so fast. He's so much smarter than I thought. He's a miracle," Liam said of his only son.
