Truong Sa Island educates fishermen about combating illegal fishing

On the morning of March 29, Truong Sa Island, Brigade 146, Naval Region 4 presided over the organization, coordinated with Border Guard Station 394, Khanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard; Truong Sa Port Logistics and Technical Service Center, Naval Division 129 organized propaganda and dissemination of laws on fishing, combating illegal fishing, contributing to removing the "Yellow Card" of the European Commission (EC) for Vietnam and the island's rules and regulations for 86 fishing boats and 345 fishermen when anchoring at the port.

At the propaganda session, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Phu, Commander of the island, informed the islanders and fishermen about the basic contents of the recent situation of the sea and islands, especially the situation of illegal fishing by Vietnamese fishermen in the past time, and answered fishermen's questions about the implementation of Decision No. 48/2010/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on supporting fuel costs when fishermen fish offshore.

Also during the propaganda session, Truong Sa Island; Station next to Room 394, Khanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard; Truong Sa Port Logistics and Technical Service Center, Fleet 129 distributed more than 550 propaganda leaflets, instructing fishermen on safe and sustainable fishing in waters under Vietnam's sovereignty , and presented 100 national flags and 50 life jackets to fishermen.

The activities help islanders and fishermen raise awareness, consciousness and responsibility for exploiting aquatic resources in accordance with Vietnamese law and international treaties for sea areas under Vietnam's sovereignty and sovereign rights, international and foreign sea areas.
