The contractor is constructing the APEC 2027 Conference Center project.
During the working session on the morning of July 22 with the Central working delegation led by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia, working with the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, the An Giang Provincial People's Committee reported on the overall implementation of preparations for the APEC 2027 summit in Phu Quoc special zone.
After a working session with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung to inspect and work with Kien Giang province (now An Giang) on the implementation of infrastructure projects serving the APEC 2027 conference, the Provincial People's Committee submitted a report on considering and supplementing Decision 948/QD-TTg, dated May 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister.
The province proposed to add two more projects; specifically, the coastal road investment project in the east of Phu Quoc island, about 44km long, 60m wide, with a total estimated investment of VND14,100 billion.
The second project is the coastal road connecting An Thoi port; approximately 2.7km long, 30-60m wide. Total estimated investment is 2,650 billion VND.
In addition, the province proposed that the Prime Minister consider the urban railway line project, section 1 (under Section I of Decision 948/QD-TTg, with a total investment capital of about 9,000 billion VND, invested in the form of PPP) to apply the form of investor selection in special cases like projects under Section II of Decision 948/QD-TTg to ensure shortening the project implementation time, and soon putting it into service for the APEC 2027 conference. The Government Office is collecting opinions from ministries to synthesize and report to the Prime Minister.
Reporting to the working delegation, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thanh Nhan said that the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee focused on leading and closely directing the preparation of good conditions to serve the APEC 2027 conference in Phu Quoc. The province focused on implementing procedures to deploy 21 projects according to Decision 948/QD-TTg, including 10 public investment projects and 11 non-budget investment projects.
Up to now, the Provincial People's Committee has issued 9/9 orders to build urgent works in accordance with regulations; allocated local budget with an amount of over 1,465 billion VND to implement public investment projects. At the same time, it requested the Ministry of Finance to arrange central budget capital of over 9,172 billion VND (over 2,751 billion VND in 2025, over 4,577 billion VND in 2026, over 1,843 billion VND in 2027).
The province directed departments, branches, sectors, investors and Phu Quoc special zone to urgently survey, design, measure, clear the site, submit for approval the adjustment of related plans to serve as a basis for carrying out project approval procedures, selecting contractors, and completing in July 2025 to ensure progress 3-6 months earlier than the APEC 2027 conference.
For non-budgetary investment projects, the selection of investors has been completed, the organization has announced and granted decisions approving investors for 3 key projects, with a total capital of 91,548 billion VND, including the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion investment project. Investors are urgently implementing according to the schedule committed to the province.
